San Diego ZOO

The SD ZOO has some truly amazing creatures. It makes me appreciate nature infinitely more. I love that living in San Diego allows me to go to places as magical as the Zoo to take some great photos...

Inconsistent...

That should be my tag line. I have an inconsistent personality. Although this has been in the back of my mind, I never had the complete motivation to upload a simple picture. I have taken many, more than necessary, photos and some of them in my oh-so-humble opinion are pretty good. I sit here drinking a delicious bottle of wine and decided tonight would be the night to fill in the gaps from then to now.
The Fourth of July came with a bang. Filled with fireworks and marshmallow fights. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate so the beach was out of the question, but a BBQ at home filled the void.
Alan and I attended the San Diego county fair for the only purpose of trying the intensely fried foods. I think the Krispy Kreme Chicken Sandwich was my favorite while Alan preferred the Deep Fried Klondike Bar.We played games, won odd stuffed animals that will soon be discarded, but the food, people watching and overall environment were a blast. Gotta love carnies!

Summer continues, but only for so long. I end my job in three days and start school in three weeks. At that point who knows how often I will keep up with this, not that I do a good job anyways...

Adventures to Nor Cal

Trips are always enjoyable, especially when you go with your family. I took this opportunity to shoot some photos of our adventures... We explored the mysterious house known as the Winchester Mansion. To this day i keep thinking about this bizarre place. A women who thought building a huge mansion would somehow bring her peace from the spirits haunting her. The outside of this house is massive and amazingly picturesque. However the inside is ominous and oppresive. Crazy turns and doors and rooms and stairways adorn the house, more than necessary. I did get some beautiful pictures in the gardens surrounding the mansion.

Later we had a lovely tea part, hosted by my gorgeous sister Meghan. She did such a lovely job putting it all together.

For Easter Sunday all four of us went into San Francisco and had a lovely lunch at a cute little Irish restuarant and then we explored Union Square. Overall it was a very successful trip for many reasons. I got to spend time with my family and have many photo opportunities.

The Highs and Lows

Life is a mess. Combined with the highs and lows that have been happening in the past few weeks I turn to a place to release all tension. A good photo can brighten my mood any day. Especially one of pure beauty. I know pictures of flowers can be cliche, but I truly love capturing their petals in the perfect lighting. As sweet release :)

Storm Watch 2010

As a child I remember being trapped inside my first grade classroom at lunch and recess because of the torrential rains brought by El Nino. At that time in my life the rain was tortuous, and until just recently I still wasn't as appreciative of it's beauty as I am today. However, this year I have seen many beautiful and awe-inspiring events brought by the rain. I took an early morning drive to photograph a lull in the rains and I am pretty happy with what I was able to capture. The air is so crisp after rain and to my surprise my lens was able to do the beauty justice. As I write this I hear the pitter-patter of the rain on my roof and I realize how fortunate I am to have a non-leaking roof over my head and car to drive. I am thankful :)

I'm a failure...

For years I dreaded having the routine of taking vitamins everyday, now it is second nature to take them. I should have realized a 365 photo project would be just as difficult, if not more so, to make routine. Well I barely lasted three weeks before I forgot to take a self-portrait. I forgot one day, and then the next, and next. By the time I had remembered it had been a week. Instead of making up the days, I have decided to retire from this endevor.

I originally liked the concept of a 365 because it would force me to be creative and to use my camera every single day. I am still trying to think of fun photo projects for myself, and to use my camera alot, but have the restriction of 365 I just couldn't handle.

With the recent storms and full moon I think I got some pretty great shots. I will post them later when I am home on my personal computer.

For now don't think of me failing at a challenge, just think of me changing my path a little.

Jan 1st

This was day one of "365." I was recovering from an eventful New Years Celebration and I wanted to express my great optimism for what 2010 has in store!

Welcome!

After having made a small investment in a dslr camera I find myself surrounded with pictures that I wish to share. I hope to make this my forum to share the little things I found beautiful or interesting enough to photograph. I am working on my "first" photo project which i hope to have completed by January 1st, 2011. It is "365" one a day self portrait shots. I will post the ones I find "good" enough to share.

This is short because I am still getting the hang of this. Thanks for stopping by!
