It's a tease!

Sorry for the excessive lateness in my updates! School, work and searching for internships has been keeping me extremely busy the past couple of months. Fortunately I have continued to take pictures, but unfortunately I do not have a completed theme to post, just multiple semi-completed themes. However, here is a tease of what I have been working on...

I have a lot of side projects in the works as well. Some of the pictures here are from those. "Food" tends to be a big one. I find that when I go out, the dishes are presented so beautifully it is hard not to take pictures.  "People watching" is another project. This one is great because it gets me out in the world and taking pictures of the oddities I see throughout the day. Being at CSUF 5 days a week gives me great inspiration. I may throw some of these picture in now and gain to fill in any gaps there may be between posts. For now, enjoy this little tease :)

Did your mother tell you to eat your vegetables???

Mine did! She also told me to bring my camera with me everywhere I go because y0u will never know when it will come in handy. Well actually she didn't, but she did tell me about this wonderful place called Sprouts. It is a farmers market style grocery store so I was able to find a plethora of vegetables. I took this week as an opportunity to make some hearty veggie filled meals. I made a Minestrone Soup for the first time and I must say it turned out very delicious. I also made a vegetable curry dish. Below were some of the ingredients I used in these dishes. Also, because this post is beyond late, I added a few extra photos.

Hodge-Podge!

This is Hodge-Podge at its finest. Every picture is has its own individual flair. I took this week as an opportunity to be free from the constraints of weekly themes. As you will see it took my creativity to somewhat of a "unique" level.
As some of you may know, this picture is not new. It was not even taken this year. But I have always wanted to share this picture of Addie. It was taken her last weekend on this earth. I always meant to take a picture of the heart shape on her forehead, and fortunately I did so I can share with all of you that she really did have a piece of my heart <3

I am trying to bring more people into my photographs. This is my Clinical Psych cohort-my fellow classmates. This was taken on a Saturday during our lunch hour of a day long class on substance abuse.

Cal State Fullerton has artwork spread throughout campus and this is one of the pieces. His eyes remind me the vacant gaze in the creatures from "Fantastic Planet." Not many may know this movie, but this one is a strange, but intriguing cartoon about aliens

One of these things just doesn't belong here, one of them just isn't the same...That was supposed to be sung. Strange buckets in planters in the middle of the road. Not sure how long it has been there, or how long it will stay. I will keep you posted...

Nope, it's not an Easter egg, it's a Potato!!! Thanks to Brian Follick and his stash of rotten potatoes for an interesting game of Potato baseball. Didn't really work out in the sense of baseball, but it was a good opportunity to take pictures.

This is the birthday girl!!! It is only appropriate to make the birthday girl apart of the Hodge-Podge spread. Time to blow out the candles and get another sugar rush from intense amount of delicious frosting on the cake!

The colors were great for this photo! I nearly peed my pants from excitement when I saw the RadioFlyer sitting in the grass on a beautiful 80 degree day.

The original theme of this week was "Spirit." I really was not very motivated by this theme so I took creative liberty to change it. However, this picture was taken before I changed the weekly theme. These are Greek letters representing one of the many Frats on campus. Truly who in college has more spirit and pride than the Greek system?

Next week is "Vegetables." I see alot of cooking in my future to get some colorful and inspiring photographs of some great vegetables. Have a great week!!!

Romance/Valentines Day

Last weeks theme, appropriately so, was Romance. I took it a little more generic and slashed it with Valentines Day, a day of romance...

Romance summed up in 7 days...Beautiful pink roses (Thanks Alan!), rose petals, champagne, heart shaped treats and decorations, chocolate and wine. Next week I will be naming hodgepodge. No coherent theme, which will be the theme. See you soon!

Body

Sorry for the lateness of this blog, I had a rather busy past couple of weeks and this is the first moment I am getting a break. This shoot would have been WAY better with some models. Although Alan sweetly let me annoy him, he had his limits. I plan to take this project even further when I have more time. Possibly between semesters. We shall see.... I have also been experimenting more with photoshop. Usually to adjust bad lighting (stupid flash), hopefully it has not been done too poorly so that it is very obvious.
I just adore the angles of the body! Although it was hard to get my own neck (no tripod used) I think this one encompassed the image I was originally trying to get, which was the hard lines and the strength that is in such a small body part.

Who could forget to take a picture of hands. They make us distinctly unique from the animals. Alan has been doing construction so what would be a better pose (even though he never actually stopped moving) than with tools.

What do you see....my bellybutton!!! Being mid-winter I am extremely white so I thought this would be a great opportunity to adjust the colors of this photo.

Bodies have the amazing ability to heal themselves. Alan was involved in a tumble many years ago, but he carries the reminder on his elbow with this large scar.
Toes! What can I say, they help me balance!

Sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sorry for the lateness of this post. It took a few days to get just the sleepy shots I wanted. Although the lighting is a bit off in some of these, I have been playing with those settings on my camera and hope to have a good handle on lighting by the end of the year. Self-portraits are difficult to set up when trying to do it in manual. Next time maybe I will stick with automatic:)No matter how big a bed is, Alan's feet will always find their way to the edge.
